NewsCoral Hayward, a local author visited the 4th grade and their parents. She shared her background and how she came to be an author. She writes both picture and chapter books, each for different reasons. She shared that the main reason she became an author is that she loves the feeling she gets when she reads a good book and wanted to help others experience that as well. She explained what writing a book entails, and a bit about the publishing process. She also went through the steps she takes to come up with a story for her books. The 4th graders had fun at the end of the presentation as Coral walked them through the story writing process and the group came up with a story idea together. It was a great opportunity for students to get excited about writing and seeing their potential as authors and to be able to share the experience with their parents.
