Dear Spring Creek Families,
This week is Parent Teacher Conferences! We hope you have had a chance to go to our school website and sign up for an appointment with your child’s teacher. There is still time to make an appointment. We hope to have 100% attendance this week. The middle of the school year is a crucial time for parents and teachers to meet and discuss student progress and where your child is in their individual learning and growth.
Due to Parent Teacher Conferences, we will have early release days on Wednesday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Please plan accordingly for this modified schedule.
A huge thank you to Mrs. Kempter our STEM Coordinator, our STEM Fair participants, judges and parents for all of your support this year. It is exciting to see student’s critical thinking skills, ingenuity and curiosity come to life. It is a commitment to participate and I hope each student feels a sense of accomplishment.
We look forward to seeing you this week!

Volunteer Opportunities for this week!
We need parent volunteers to help with the book fair!
We are also collecting book donations at the book fair for staff appreciation week! Teachers will have wish lists available at the fair. You can purchase a book to donate and they will be collected and given to teachers during staff appreciation week at the end of March. We will continue to collect books until the end of staff appreciation week.
PTA also provides dinner for teachers during parent teacher conferences. We are catering Olive Garden soups for the main course, but would love help putting together a salad!
Please join us at the Book Fair! Stop by before or after Parent Teacher Conferences. Hours will be as follows:
See the attached flyer for more information.
The 3rd-6th graders have been working hard at Battle of the Books! This is a fun national program that promotes a love of reading. Students were placed on teams before Christmas break and have been reading the books on the list to get ready. We had our first round of battles this week during library time. There will be 2 more battles in the library and then the overall winners (1 team from 3rd/4th grade and 1 team from 5th/6th grade) will compete in an assembly against a teacher team and a PTA team.
Please encourage your students to keep reading and studying the names of the authors. They can check out all the books from our school library or online on Sora.
Let Mrs. Smith know if you have any questions! jills@provo.edu
Our Battle of the Books competition will be here before you know it! If you have a 3rd-6th grade student that would like to participate in Battle of the Books we want to let you know that our Family Reads program is a great place to get the books they need to read for the competition! We have almost every book available! Request a free book from our Family Reads Google form and get busy reading! There is more information on how to do this on our school website. Let Mrs. Smith ( jills@provo.edu) our librarian, know if you have any questions!
Spring Creek Elementary informs parents prior to the monthly Emergency Drills taking place at the school. On Friday, February 9th, we will be conducting a Secure (Bomb Threat) Drill and will be following the Provo City School District Procedures found on the attached document.
We want to express our sincerest gratitude for everyone who participated in our STEM Fair. We would also like to give a shoutout to our PTA and local organizations for participating in our Family STEM Night. We enjoyed seeing everyone there and are excited to announce that we have many 5th graders who have been chosen to bring their STEM project to the Provo District STEM Fair. The District STEM Fair will be held on February 12th in the evening. More information will be given directly to students regarding the District STEM Fair. Participation is optional, and it is recommended that students fine tune their projects before bringing it to the District Fair. If you need help with your project, please reach out to Mrs. Kempter. We are excited to announce that the 5th graders as our District contestants from Spring Creek:
Registration has begun for the 2024-25. Provo City School District Title I Preschool. See attached flyer for more information.
Each summer Provo City School District, in conjunction with Provo City Parks and Recreation, provides an Outdoor Education (summer STEM camp) Program. This is a co-curricular program that is an extension of the current fifth grade STEM curriculum. Students just finishing fifth grade are invited to participate and will spend five days at a camp located up the South Fork of Provo Canyon where they will be involved in activities such as hands-on science experiences, arts & crafts, sports & recreation and campfire programs. See attached flyer for more information.
