Dear Spring Creek Families,
In the coming weeks we will have several opportunities for you to come to the school and see all the great things happening with your students. The annual STEM Fair will be held Thursday, February 1 from 6:00-7:00 PM in the gym. The following week we will have Parent Teacher Conferences. Please sign up to meet with your child’s teacher!
Finally, I want to let parents of students in upper grades and parents of students with social media accounts know that these social media platforms are not intended for children. We have been made aware of several anonymous Instagram accounts that unknown individuals are creating. These accounts are usually negative in content and create unnecessary stress and conflict between students. This conflict is sometimes carried over into the school and results in disrupted learning and has negative impacts on students. PLEASE talk to your child about the harmful effects of social media. Cell phones or smart watches or other devices are not allowed at school (inside or outside) including the school bus. We ask that students DO NOT bring these to school. There are phones in every classroom and in the office that students are allowed to use when needed. I appreciate your help and support with this.
I hope to see you in the coming weeks at the school.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Snow, Principal

Every summer the School of Community University Partnership (SCUP) department at Utah Valley University runs a Pre-Freshmen Engineering Program known as UVU PREP.
The program is a free 6 week summer program that challenges high achieving incoming 7th, 8th and 9th grade students who have shown an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). UVU Prep is built around a challenging academic curriculum that exposes students to advanced concepts in math and science.
If you are interested in your child applying for the program, the application can be found on the UVU Website. The application deadline is January 31, 2024.
Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
Our Battle of the Books competition will be here before you know it! If you have a 3rd-6th grade student that would like to participate in Battle of the Books we want to let you know that our Family Reads program is a great place to get the books they need to read for the competition! We have most every book available! Request a free book from our Family Reads Google form and get busy reading! There is more information on how to do this on our school website. Let Mrs. Smith ( jills@provo.edu) our librarian, know if you have any questions!

Each summer Provo City School District, in conjunction with Provo City Parks and Recreation, provides an Outdoor Education (summer STEM camp) Program. This is a co-curricular program that is an extension of the current fifth grade STEM curriculum. Students just finishing fifth grade are invited to participate and will spend five days at a camp located up the South Fork of Provo Canyon where they will be involved in activities such as hands-on science experiences, arts & crafts, sports & recreation and campfire programs.
