Important Information & Dates for Week of November 11th
November 8, 2024
Spring Creek Parents,
It is becoming quite cold some days. Please remember to send your kids with appropriate clothing for the weather. We do not have indoor recess unless it gets down below 20 degrees, It’s raining, or the air quality is unhealthy. Otherwise we go outside for recess time. Please look at what the temperature is going to be before you send your kids off to school.
Parent Teacher conference is next week please sign up in the link lower in this document. These face to face meetings are valuable and we hope you will be an active part of our learning community.
Weekly family talking point: Boundaries
Elementary students often struggle with the concept of boundaries both physical and verbal. Physical being, getting in someone’s space, touching others, lack of body awareness(bumping into others), and being physically aggressive. Verbal being, awareness of volume in different settings, distracting others through noises, and using language that could be offensive.
Questions you might ask:
What boundaries do you have/what do you feel uncomfortable with as far as people getting in your space and words being used around you?
How often do you cross boundaries of others?
How often do others cross your boundaries?
What should you do if someone crosses a boundary?
Thank you,
Jay Porter
Principal, Spring Creek Elementary

Scholastic Book Fair
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits—including academic success and improved mental health.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Book Fair:
Dates: Wednesday, November 13th 8:15-5:00; Thursday, November 14th 8:15-7:00
Location: Spring Creek Library
There’s more info on Spring Creek’s Book Fair homepage.
While you’re there, set up a Book Fair eWallet, the digital payment account that allows your child to shop for books at the Fair without cash. Then share your eWallet link so friends and extended family can add funds.
When you fund an eWallet, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to a giving initiative called “Share the Fair”. Your contributions directly support our students who need help buying books from the Fair.
Many of us still remember the rush of finding the perfect book at a Scholastic Book Fair. I hope you’ll join your child at our school’s Fair and share a reading experience they’ll remember forever.
Happy reading!
Tim Wadham, Librarian

Stem Fair
It’s time to start thinking about your STEM Fair project! This year our STEM Fair will be held on January 23rd. We are transitioning to a more research-based STEM fair, instead of experimenting like the District has done in the past few years. 5th and 6th graders will have the opportunity to participate in our Fair, while the younger grades will have the opportunity to observe them throughout the process! It is always best to start thinking about your project early. For more information, please visit our STEM Fair website here.
Art Student of the Month
Our Artist of the Month for November is from Mrs. Wright’s 5th grade class. This student brings incredible enthusiasm to the art classroom. He has a vivid imagination and works hard to bring his creative ideas to life with skill and dedication.
