Important Information & Dates for Week of November 18th
November 15, 2024
Spring Creek Parents,
Thank you for coming out to our parent teacher conference and discussing your child’s academics. I was able to go to quite a few conferences and loved the information that teachers were giving out and the discussions that were being had. If you did not get a chance to attend a conference with your child’s teacher please make arrangements with the teacher to meet with them so that you can get resources to help your child succeed and truly understand where they are in their academic progress.
A big shout out to our PTA parents who provided a meal for teachers last night. It was delicious and the PTA works so hard for our teachers. If you are not a member of the PTA please join and help distribute the load of work put on the parents who are currently helping. It is a lot of work that is put in but could be lightened with more people helping out.
Weekly family talking point: Building Resilience
Resilience is by definition: the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties, Toughness. School requires this attribute on a daily basis whether it be sticking to work when you are not quite understanding it, to dealing with an annoying kid at recess, to overcoming boredom that one might have in a particular content area.
Questions for discussion:
– What does it mean to be resilient?
– When have you shown resilience in school or in life outside of school
– What good things can come from being resilient
– How could the lack of resilience hurt you?
Thank you,
Jay Porter
Principal, Spring Creek Elementary

Stem Fair
It’s time to start thinking about your STEM Fair project! This year our STEM Fair will be held on Thursday, January 23rd, 2025. We are transitioning to a more research-based STEM fair, instead of experimenting like the District has done in the past few years. Only 5th and 6th graders will have the opportunity to participate in our Fair, while the younger grades will have the opportunity to observe them throughout the process! It is always best to start thinking about your project early. For more information, please visit our STEM Fair website here.
