Spring Creek Parents,

     Happy November!!  Yesterday was a lot of fun, seeing students in costumes and having class parties was great!  We have a great opportunity coming up with Parent Teacher conferences for you to sit down face to face with your child’s teacher and discuss how they are doing academically and behaviorally. Please take advantage of this time to seek ways that you can help your child at home.  With your targeted support at home a student can make academic and behavioral progress, but they also will see that you value their education and want to be a part of our learning community.  The teachers know these students well and can provide you with very specific struggles and strengths of your child.  Please sign up for a conference time and make that 10-15 minutes valuable by coming away with some actions you can take to help your child. Weekly family discussion point:  Sleep

Our social worker put together a video with some important information on the importance of sleep.  This can lead to some great discussions on how this can improve for your kids and what you are doing well with in this area.  Follow this link to watch the video:  Importance of Sleep Video (Youtube video)

Veteran’s Day Assembly

On Monday, November 11th at 9:00 am we will have a special Veteran’s Day Assembly. If there are any family members or people in our community who have served our country we would like you to come so we can recognize you and your service. The students have been learning patriotic songs that they will be performing. We will also have special guests that will present on how they serve our country. We are looking forward to sharing this special day with those that have served. 

Book Fair

Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to connect with your child over the thrill of bringing home new books to dive into again and again. Studies show that kids read more when they choose books for themselves. And fostering a love of independent reading leads to a wide variety of benefits—including academic success and improved mental health. The Fair will begin on Monday, November 11th. Students will be previewing the fair on Monday and Tuesday. The Fair will be open Wednesday and Thursday, November 13 and 14 for students to purchase their books. The Fair will be open these two days during Parent Teacher conferences.

Parent Teacher Conferences!

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, November 13th from 1:45-4:00 and Thursday, November 14th from 1:45-7:00 pm. We will be using the website Sign-Up Genius to schedule our conferences. Please see our school website to access your teacher’s Sign-Up Genius page and sign up for an appointment with your child’s teacher. 

Please sign up as soon as possible so that we can arrange for support with translation and other assistance as needed.

PTA MEETING REMINDER

Our next meeting is at the school on Friday, November 8, 10:00am. Come hear from our principal and support staff about all the great things going on at Spring Creek, and find out how you can be of help with December’s Santa Shop (December 10-13)! 

SANTA SHOP SERVICE OPPORTUNITY

The PTA sponsors a Santa Shop every December, and we need as much help as possible! On Friday, November 22, from 10:00-11:30 a.m., we’ll be assembling various items that will be for sale at the Santa Shop. This will take place at the school, so come join us!

Stem Fair

It’s time to start thinking about your STEM Fair project! This year our STEM Fair will be held on January 23rd. We are transitioning to a more research-based STEM fair, instead of experimenting like the District has done in the past few years. 5th and 6th graders will have the opportunity to participate in our Fair, while the younger grades will have the opportunity to observe them throughout the process!
