Dear Spring Creek Families,
The weather has turned cooler and wetter this past week. Thank you for sending your child to school with jackets and proper shoes. We encourage you to label your child’s outwear so if it is misplaced or lost, it is much easier for us to know where to return these items.
In addition, we are seeing an uptick in upper grade students dealing with verbal aggression off-campus and online in social media apps. Last week, I talked with the 6th grade classes about the reports we are receiving from students and encouraged students to talk to a parent or another trusted adult about the stresses that social media is having on peer relationships and their emotional well-being. These stresses negatively impact learning. I would encourage you to become familiar with the SafeUtah app. This resource is free to parents and students and provides immediate support to families at no charge. You can learn more about it on the SafeUT Website. Our school social workers, Mrs. Byars ( kellieb@provo.edu) and Ms. Graves ( egraves@provo.edu) work tirelessly to support the vast social and emotional needs of our students. If you would like more information on how to support your student, please reach out to them.
This coming week will be a short school week with Fall Break beginning on Thursday, October 19-Tuesday, October 24, 2023. School will resume on Wednesday, October 25 with an early release day at 1:30 pm followed by another early release day on Thursday, October 26 to accommodate Parent Teacher Conferences. We hope you will sign up for a conference! Teachers are eager to meet and discuss your child’s progress with you.
I hope the upcoming Fall Break is a restful and safe break for all of you!
