Important Information & Dates for Week of September 4 – 8
September 3, 2023
Dear Spring Creek Families,
It’s a new school year and a new opportunity to apply or reapply for free and reduced meal benefits for the 2023-2024 school year on myschoolapps.com. Students who received free or reduced-price meals last year will continue to receive benefits until September 28, 2023, without a new meal application. After this date, parents or guardians must complete a new application for meal benefits to continue for this school year. Parents or guardians may also apply or reapply for free/reduced-price meals anytime during the school year if they have a change in household size or income. Using the portal is easy and convenient, so visit the webpage soon to access the online application portal. Not sure if your child is eligible for free or reduced meals? No problem! They’ve got you covered. Follow the secure and straightforward online application process to find out if you qualify and proceed to apply without any hassle. Completing the application takes 10-15 minutes of your time, and the benefits can make a significant impact for your students. By qualifying for free or reduced meals, you could save hundreds of dollars throughout the school year while ensuring your child receives delicious and nutritious meals. We encourage all eligible families to take advantage of this opportunity. Providing balanced meals for your child contributes to their well-being and supports their academic success.

Youth Art Competition
This exhibition is open to K-10 students living in Utah Valley.
This year’s Youth Art Competition will be displayed in conjunction with both the 37th Annual Spiritual and Religious Art of Utah and The Most Noble Subject. As such, the prompt for this year’s exhibition explores the concept of inspiration. We encourage students to consider the following when exploring possible subject matter:
- Where do you find inspiration?
- Why do you create?
- What do you think makes life meaningful?
The exhibition will be located in the Ingrid Nemelka Gallery on the Main Floor of the Museum from November 18th, 2023, through December 30th, 2023. The Museum will select a number of works to be included in the exhibition. Of those selected for display, a small number will be chosen for cash prizes!
The works will be judged by the SMA Education staff and are to be original and individually conceived by the students, rather than class projects. No works will be considered if they contain glitter, candy, glued-on beans, macaroni, or similar materials that tend to fall off when handled or invite pests into the Museum.
Parents may bring entries to the Museum from Thursday, November 2nd through Friday, November 4th from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Each student is limited to one entry. It is necessary to fill out and attach the included entry card attached to this email with each work – clearly listing the artist’s first and last name, home phone number, parent email, grade, school, and teacher’s name and email. The entry cards should be attached to the back of the work. Works without fully completed entry cards attached will not be considered for the exhibition.
A list of accepted works will be posted on SMofA.org on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023, by 5:00 pm. We will contact each award winner to invite them to a private award ceremony Saturday, November 18th. Students in the exhibition who do not receive awards will be invited to join us for an opening reception on the same day.
