Dear Spring Creek Families,

We have a few exciting opportunities to see all the amazing things Spring Creek students have been learning. On Thursday, January 26, we will have our STEM Fair. This evening event will showcase students in grades K-6 STEM projects. The first week of February, we will have Parent Teacher Conferences. Our school goal is to have 100% attendance at these conferences. Teachers are eager to share the growth and progress students have made and discuss ways that you can continue to support your child’s education to end the school year strong.

The newsletter is full of important information and optional activities for your students–Preschool Registration and 5th Grade Camp Big Springs–just to name a few.

This week in the After School Program

• After School Academy 1st & 2nd grade meets Monday – Thursday
• After School Academy 3rd & 4th grade meets Monday – Thursday

• Theater 1st – 3rd  grade meets on Monday & Wednesday
• Theater 4th – 6th grade meets on Tuesday & Thursday

Spring Creek After School Program is excited to be able to offer an  After School  Robotics Club for 5th & 6th grades students. Robotics Club will meet on Tuesdays & Thursdays,  February 7th – April 27th. If your 5th or 6th grade child is interested in participating in Robotics Club, they may request a participation form from Mrs Martinez before school or parents may request a form via email to  kimberlym@provo.edu

**Enrollment begins on  Monday, January 23rd – 27th. Enrollment is limited and on a first come, first serve basis**

We will have after school program next week on Monday, 01/30 & Tuesday, 01/31 only. We will not have after school program on Wednesday, 02/01 or Thursday, 02/02 due to Parent Teacher Conferences / early out days. 

WIDA Testing 

Our ELL students will be taking the WIDA ACCESS test the first part of February. This test measures students’ academic English usage in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The test scores will be used to determine supports for academic English development and to show academic English progress. Please be sure your child is here at school everyday, gets a good night’s rest, and eats breakfast so they are prepared to do their very best on the test. Parent Teacher Conferences

This year we have set a goal of having 100% attendance for our Parent Teacher Conferences! Teachers are eager to speak with you about your students, their academic accomplishments and growth, as well as how we can continue to work in partnership in helping your students succeed. Parent Teacher Conferences will be held February 1-2, 2023. Please help us reach this goal by scheduling and attending a Parent Teacher Conference. 

Signups will be on our website at www.springcreek.provo.edu. For your convenience, you can select to meet in person with your child’s teacher or via Zoom.

STEM Fair

All applications are due on Monday, January 23rd. If you submit an application after Monday, your project will not be accepted into the STEM Fair. Here is the link to our STEM Page for January, where you can find the links to the required applications and helpful information to get your project started! Projects should be turned in no later than 9:00 AM on Thursday, January 26th. The STEM Fair for classes will be held on January 26th during school hours. STEM Night

On Thursday, January 26th at 6:00 PM, Spring Creek will be holding its annual STEM Night inside the Gym. All families are invited to come view the projects and awards ceremony.

At the event, participants will be given a SWAG bag and a certificate. Prizes will also be given to the 1st and 2nd place winners from K – 4 and 5 – 6. All participants will also be automatically added into a raffle for some amazing STEM prizes donated by the PTA!

All of the winners will be announced during STEM Night, so make sure to come and support our school!

6th Grade UVU Prep Registration

UVU Prep is an amazing program for graduating 6th grade students that is offered during the summer. It is a free 6 week program that challenges high-achieving students who have shown an interest in STEM. See attached flyer.

The deadline to apply is January 31, 2023. If this is something you would like your student to participate in, you are invited to do so.

5th Grade Camp Big Springs

Each summer Provo City School District, in conjunction with Provo City Parks and Recreation, provides an Outdoor Education (summer STEM camp) Program. This is a co-curricular program that is an extension of the current fifth grade STEM curriculum. Students just finishing fifth grade are invited to participate and will spend five days at a camp located up the South Fork of Provo Canyon where they will be involved in activities such as hands-on science experiences, arts & crafts, sports & recreation and campfire programs.
