Dear Spring Creek Families,
Happy October! It’s hard to believe that we are just a few weeks away from the end of Term 1 in school. One of the highlights of my day is being able to visit classrooms and see the incredible learning that is going on and the engaging instruction that teachers have prepared. Your efforts in getting students to school every day and on time makes a huge difference in students’ academic outcomes.
If you are a parent of a student who rides the bus, I need your help! We are getting daily reports from students of poor behavior particularly at the end of the school day. We remind students daily that our school expectations for students are also expected on the buses. Students are expected to be kind in words and actions, act safely which means sitting in their seats, not hanging out windows, standing up or switching seats while the bus is moving is not allowed. Lastly, we need students to respond responsibly to the bus driver. Simply put, I need your help in talking to your child(ren) about what he/she can personally do to make the bus ride a more positive experience. It is often easy for students to say what others are doing to them, but we are trying to help each student recognize what they can do too. If your child has an issue on the bus, please have them talk to the driver. The bus drivers communicate directly with the school. When we get reports, we investigate each complaint and then take action.
The best time to take care of issues is right after they happen. We work hard to help students be kind, safe and responsible when they leave the school and board buses. On rare occasions, incidents between students happen after they have departed the bus. If you have concerns about behavior from other students once they are off the bus, I encourage you to contact law enforcement. In the meantime, thank you for your help with these challenges.
We hope to see you in the coming weeks when we hold Parent Teacher Conferences. Our goal is to always have 100% attendance so that we can share with each of you the great things your child is doing in school.
