Provo City School District

Spring Creek Elementary School

Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 22 for Provo City School District’s first ever Author Con! All families in the district are invited to enjoy an evening of celebration for local authors and the written word. Students and family are invited to take part in book signings, panel discussions from our successful authors, follow along live illustrative instruction, make-and-take activities, book based cosplay, and many more free activities. Food trucks and book vendors will also be available for those interested.

The event is free to attend, and available to all who have family who attend schools in the Provo City School District.

Author Meets

Come chat with your favorite authors in a panel, snap a picture with your writer in a hosted photo opportunity, and get your hands on a signed book!

Writer Workshops

Aspiring student-authors can anticipate workshops covering many enriching topics, from exploring the power of storytelling and why writing matters for the world at large to actionable writing techniques that lift characters and worlds from the printed page.

Activities And Events

Events include origami bookmark making, design and creation, or crafting journals for either artistic or literary endeavors. The Provo City Library will also be available to sign up anyone who would like a library card. Lastly, the district has also scheduled a tasty assortment of food trucks to cater the event, including Waffle Love! Grab a bite and make a memory at one of our stalls!

More to Come

Keep an eye out on the Provo City School District social media channels for more details, including our “Author reveals,” in which we’ll unmask authors of Author Con in the approaching weeks! We’ll also forward the Author Con agenda, a QR-code map to navigate Author Con, and a “Who’s Who?” post listing all authors after all of the authors are revealed.

Whether you’re a student looking to bump elbows with your favorite author, a teacher seeking for some extracurricular writing workshops to supplement your coursework, or a parent searching for a fun family experience, you can’t miss Author Con.
