Race for President 4.3

It’s time to elect a new 5th Grade President, and you are running for office (a presidential candidate). Unfortunately, your team of speech writers contracted the flu, making them all too sick to work. You are on your own to write a speech convincing the 5th grade you are the man or woman for the job.

Part One

You have to turn in a written speech. It needs to be well written with three (3) good points to persuade the entire grade that you deserve the presidency. Use a five paragraph essay format, including introduction and conclusion. The speech may be drafted on paper and pencil, but the final version needs to be typed on the computer.

Your Speech needs:

  • Three convincing reasons you are perfect for the job
  • An introduction
  • A conclusion
  • Correct spelling
  • Correct grammar
  • to be persuasive

Part Two

Memorize your speech. This is not an option!!

Part Three

Every good speech needs to be recorded for posterity! (That means your children and your children’s children and your children’s children’s children and so on). After your speech has been perfected, use the camera app to record a video. Make sure you are in a quiet spot; you may need to go to the hallway, but stay right outside the door. Take a partner to record you. You need to have your speech memorized so you can look at the camera while giving it. If you mess up, start over and do it again. Your speech must be perfect!

Good luck on becoming the new Fifth Grade President!
