This Week’s School Schedule

1st – 6th Grade Regular School Schedule begins this week. Monday – Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Friday 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Kindergarten Meet Your Teacher: Tuesday, August 24th 3:30 – 4:30 — Open House Style. Come anytime during this hour and spend a few minutes meeting the teacher and getting familiar with the classroom. You may want to wait until the regular school dismissal traffic is gone at about 3:40 p.m. We also ask that if possible other siblings do not come to the Meet Your Teacher activity. We understand that this may not be possible. We recommend that you plan to take your pictures in the classroom during this time as we will not have parents come into the classroom on the first day of school. Having so many adults in the classroom on the first day of school is overwhelming to many students. We have found that students do much better saying goodbye to their parents outside. It is also a way for us to limit possible COVID exposures for our students. Thank you for your understanding and help with this. Morning Drop Off Procedures and Routines It came to our attention last week that we did not communicate our Morning Drop Off Procedures and Routines. Students should not arrive at school before 8:15 a.m. Students planning to eat breakfast that are not riding a bus should plan to arrive by 8:15 to eat. This really helps us control the crowd size in the lunchroom. Vehicles are not to enter the area in front of the school/west side of the school while buses are in this area. There isn’t clearance for two way traffic when buses are present. The student drop off area is at the north end of the school. Students should walk along the sidewalk at the front of the school on the west side and enter through the main.entrance to go to the lunchroom for breakfast. Students may also walk down the back of the school to the playground if they do not need breakfast. Monday – Thursday we have some morning activities for students. Open Gym, Library, Art are all available if students do not want to go outside to play on the playground. Students need to eat breakfast before joining any other activities.

We Need Your Help ALL Provo School District students can eat breakfast and lunch at no charge this year. However, we are still asking eligible families to complete a Free / Reduced Meals Application. Other programs rely on free / reduced information for funding, staffing, and services provided to students. If you think you may qualify, you can get an application at the school and district offices. You can also apply online at https://www.myschoolapps.com/

All families that complete an application will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Amazon Gift Card. We will be drawing out 2 families on September 10th.

PowerSchool Update/Technology Use Agreement All parents are required to update their family information in PowerSchool

As part of this process parents are asked to review the District Technology Use Policy. Students are not able to use their ChromeBooks until parents have completed this process. Teachers are in the process of training students on how to use the ChromeBooks and access academic programs. It is crucial that you complete the policy review. Any student whose parent has not completed this process by Sept. 7th will not be able to use their ChromeBook. Your immediate attention to this is greatly appreciated. Please use the following instructions to complete your information review and update in PowerSchool.

Go to https://grades.provo.edu and log in to your parent account. If you do not know your username and/or password please call the school office at 801-370-4650 and someone will reset the password for you. After you are logged in, from the blue menu bar select your child’s name. After their information loads, click the Student Registration/Yearly Update icon located in the left menu bar at the top. Click the Registration link next to your students name and follow the instructions on the School Forms pages. You will need to do this for each student enrolled in the Provo School District.

Student Needs — All students should bring the following items to school a water bottle (preferably with a pop up lid instead of one that needs to be unscrewed to drink from) , a backpack, a mask if you choose for them to wear one.

Student Drop off and Pick Up Procedures
